On August 17, 2025, the 5th study session of the Hasegawa Seminar, hosted by the Kyoto Peacebuilding Center, was held at the Gai-en Campus of Kyoto University of the Arts. As a special guest, former member of the House of Councillors, Ms. Motoko Mizuno, made an opening appearance and spoke about what is essential for young people in the coming era. She particularly emphasized two key points: the importance of "viewing oneself and Japan objectively from a global perspective" and "developing a back casting-style career plan based on one's desired future goals." Following this, the seminar's host, Professor Sukehiro Hasegawa, delivered a lecture titled “The Pact for the Future Part II: Prospect for Reforming the United Nations and Transforming Global Governance.” Centered on the topic of UN reform, the lecture covered a wide range of subjects including the evolution of the concept of the nation-state, comparisons of classical theories in International Relations, and social psychology that drive human societies toward war. A 30-minute Q&A session was held at the end, followed by a networking dinner. (August 17, 2025)
