New Councilor, Professor Hiroko Akizuki of Asia University, will present a report

on the work of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against

Women. Professor Akizuki was born in Fukuoka Prefecture and graduated from

the Department of Social Sciences, College of Liberal Arts, International

Christian University, and subsequently completed the doctoral program at the

Graduate School of Public Administration. In 2014, she became a member of the

government's verification team on the Drafting Process of the Statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Kono on the Announcement of the Results of the Investigation into Comfort Women. In June 2018, she was elected to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. She is the author of several books, such as “Legal Personality of Autonomous Subsidiary Organs of the  UN (1999) and “Humane International Law for Peace, liberty and Prosperity” (2011).(11/9/2024)
